Every Para starts with Desk and Personal for documents it can search and work with. Incoming files land on the Desk. Files you keep move to Personal; files still on the Desk after 14 days move there too. Open Projects to browse your documents. Install case.dev for your Para to add named projects and use shared projects allowed by your team access.
Private and shared projects
Projects always lists Desk and Personal. With case.dev installed on your Para, it also holds the named projects you create. Your private projects are visible only to you. A shared project belongs to an access group: everyone in the group can use every current and future project in that group, and a person can belong to multiple groups.
Document-system connectors
Instead of uploading by hand, connect the systems your organization already uses. Connections include Google Drive when enabled and Microsoft 365; the case.dev plugin adds more. See Document connections for setup and limitations. If the connection list is still loading, allow a moment and refresh if needed.
Upload and download
Open Projects to upload files or folders and download documents. Without case.dev, Para uses only Desk and Personal. With the plugin, it files incoming documents in the project they concern and asks when several destinations are plausible. ZIPs are stored intact. See Integration file support for channel limits.
Preview, ask, and organize
- Use the project picker at the top of Projects to search for a project or choose All projects.
- Open a file to preview it beside the list. PDFs, Word documents, images, text, audio, and video preview in place; other types show their extracted text when available. Files Para links to in a reply open the same preview after you sign in.
- Highlight a passage in a preview and choose Ask Para or Request changes. The answer or revision continues on Work.
- To move documents, choose Select files to move, pick the files, choose the destination under Move to, then select Move.
- If a document is not searchable yet, choose Prepare for search to process it again.
