Use Para in Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex

Connect Para as an MCP server so your AI assistants can delegate work to it.

On this page

Para can work inside the AI assistants you already use. Connect it once as an MCP server and delegate substantial work from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or Claude Code. Para runs the assignment with your existing project access and history, then delivers the result in email, Slack, or Teams. See Microsoft Copilot for direct Para chat and the separate MCP plugin mode.

Set it up

Open AI assistant setup, choose your assistant, and follow its setup instructions. The page provides the connection address and a prompt you can copy into an assistant that can help install it. You will sign in to Para and choose which organization and permissions the assistant can use.

Verify the connection

  1. Use the supplied setup instructions

On AI assistant setup, copy the setup prompt into your assistant. It includes the server URL, client-specific installation instructions, sign-in, and a check that your assistant can reach Para. If your client cannot install connections itself, follow its settings flow.

  2. Choose the correct organization

Complete Para’s browser sign-in and consent. Confirm the requested permissions. A saved server URL alone is not a working, authorized connection.

  3. Delegate a small assignment

For example: Ask Para to list the projects I can access and send the result to my Teams chat. Connect your Teams identity and start its personal Para chat before using it as the destination.

  4. Check actual delivery

Your assistant confirms when Para accepts the assignment. Wait for the result in your selected channel; an accepted job is not completed work. You do not need to keep polling the assistant.

Files and conversation context

The other assistant’s conversation, local files, and uploaded attachments are not automatically shared with Para. Include the necessary brief in the delegation and put source documents in an accessible Para project, or send them through Para’s connected Slack or Teams chat. Request finished files through a supported delivery channel.

Client limitations

This connection lets another assistant use Para. To let Para use another service, see Plugins and secrets. Your assistant must support connecting to Para through MCP, the standard used to connect AI assistants to external tools. Availability depends on your assistant’s plan and your organization’s settings. If you cannot add a connection, ask your administrator. Microsoft Copilot has a separate setup; use the Copilot guide.

Simple vs Advanced

Choose Simple to send assignments to Para and receive results through your connected email, Slack, or Teams. Advanced offers additional tools with permissions you approve individually. Review those permissions when signing in.

If connecting fails

Use a verified Para account with organization membership. Administrators sign in with a passkey. If sign-in fails, update your assistant to its latest version and reconnect through its connection settings.
